IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 9960 LORAN CHAIN USERS
If you are using 9960 chain and it seems that your hangs are not in the right place even though you are using our ASF there could be a good reason for it. January 17th of 2007 the US Coast Guard decided to slightly change the Time Difference delays for all of the slaves for the 9960 chain. Until now, WindPlot has not been updated for the new delays. What this means is that if the TD's you are using were taken after this date then WindPlot will not be putting them in the correct place. ALSO, any TD calibrations using Windplot that were done AFTER this date will actually put them in the wrong place because it used the new delays that the Loran-C stations were transmitting to correct an older TD reading.
Now in version 7.23.6 and better we have added a check box to switch between the two delays. You will find this as a "New Delays" check box in the GRI SETUP of the TD convertions window.
What you will need to know is if the TD hang was taken before or after the January 17th 2007 date and check this box only if they were taken after this date. AND if you are using your old 9960 WindPlot calibrations, you must know if the TD's and the calibrations were both before or after this date or carefull using them.
We will be adding another check box that will show the TD's in both places. A TD hang will be first drawn using the old delays and then it will show it using the new delays in a dark grey color.
UPDATE! We have added the method to show both new and old TD's in the 9960 chain. It requires version 7.23.7 or better. You will see another checkbox below the "NEW DELAYS" check box as "USE BOTH". When "USE BOTH" and "USE NEW DELAY" are checked the program will look for marks that are marked as TD's then if the TD readings are in the description like WindPlot does when you convert a TD to Lat/Long it will recalculate the TD readings in using both old and new delays. What you get then is two marks, one is the regular color of the mark using the old delays and a dark grey one using the new delays. So if it is a hang and you avoid both then you should be ok. But NEVER combine this with the WindPlolt calibarations. If it can not calculate the TD's for some reason then it reverts to using the recorded Lat/Long as it appears in the mark list.
